A lot of webnoise about rilo kiley the last week or so, she has a few nice songs on her website under the first M for Music - I recommend With Arms Outstrectched, nice glockenspeil.
By the magic of MP3Blogs.org, I can tell you that there are loads of Rilo Kiley songs here.

The Soft Parade - Cry All Over Me
In a blatant piece of cross posting, here is a link to the marvellous Soft Parade song (not the electric soft parade) on my personal mp3blog woodentop.
Joanna Newsome - Sprout and the bean
I've been in turmoil since hearing Ms Newsome, I so wanted to like her. she plays the harp - the 2nd most rock and roll instrument after the harpsicord, well maybe 3rd after the recorder, oh, and the celeste. Anyway her annoying mewling vocals really grate after a while, but just the odd song is just about acceptable, a bit like the Cranes.

Jose Gonzalez
Via a discussion over at music for robots about felix mcteigue (streamed mp3s here), a link to jose gonzalez, who's biography isn't working, so I can't tell whether he's Norwegian, or just lives in Oslo at the moment.
Either way, it is tone-centred, altered tuning folk-pop. Quite a few songs to listen to on his site - please go and check them (and him) out. I liked Heartbeats best.

sons and daughters
I described this to my sister as "like early PJ harvey playing the cold mountain soundtrack with a male accomplice", but then sons and daughters might not sound like that to you in these unusually upbeat clips:
